Will Langhorne to Drive Grill2Go Car at Kentucky


Indianapolis: Will Langhorne will drive Treadway-Hubbard Racing's No.55 Grill2Go/Sam Schmidt Motorsports Indy Car in this weekends Belterra Casino Indy 300 from the Kentucky Speedway. This will be Langhorne's first Indy Racing League start.

"I am extremely honored to have been chosen to drive the Grill2Go entry," said Langhorne. "I have always dreamed of one day competing in the Indy 500. This is just one more step in the process and I greatly appreciate Charbroil’s support."

Charbroil and their Grill2Go product have had substantial involvement in motorsports recently. In 2001, Grill2Go was the primary sponsor of Scott Goodyear’s Indy 500 effort. Then in 2002, Richie Hearn drove the Grill2Go/Sam Schmidt Motorsports Indy car to a 6th place finish at Indy. Charbroil will use their involvement as a key element in the launch of their Fire+Ice product which is a combination of the Thermos® Grill2Go, built by Char-Broil®, and a beverage cooler nicely packaged together on wheels.

Prior to car racing, Langhorne began his racing career in downhill skiing. Since then, he has competed in several forms of racing including Skip Barber, Firehawk and Toyota Atlantic Series. In Toyota Atlantics he won in the rain on the streets of Vancouver and finished only 1 point behind IRL Champion Sam Hornish Jr. in the 1999 Rookie point standings despite only competing in eight of the 12 races. Langhorne passed his Indy Racing League rookie test at the Texas Motor Speedway in June and was approved to drive after a successful test last Friday at the Kentucky Speedway.
