Hearn Starting 9th; Treadway 16th

Kansas City: Richie Hearn will start 9th and Rookie Rick Treadway will start 16th in the Ameristar Casino 200 from the Kansas Speedway. Hearn turned a best lap of 215.694 MPH in the #20 BG Products Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry to equal his best starting position of the season. Treadway driving the #55 Sprint Indy Racing entry for Treadway-Hubbard Racing and local Kansas City based Sprint toured the “D” shaped oval in 25.6089 seconds for a best lap of 213.676 MPH.

"The cars been fast all weekend," said Hearn. "We were second quick Friday and we’ve been running in the top 10 consistently. The cars been good in traffic as well as on our own. We had a little push in our qualifying run and were a tenth or so off our best times on our own, but overall the car is really good. It’s going to be a long race and it’s been incredibly hot so we’ll have to see how that all plays out."

Despite temperatures soaring into the mid 90’s and changing track conditions the entire field in separated by less than 1 second.

"We struggled a little Friday, but the car was a lot better Saturday morning," said Treadway. "The Sprint team and my engineer Tim Wardrop did a great job giving me a much better car today. We’ve got a really good racecar and we’re starting in front of a lot of really fast guys and race winners. I’m just looking to make it to the end and run well for Sprint in their home town."

The Ameristar Casino Indy 200 on July 7th from the Kansas Speedway can be seen on ABC at 1 p.m. (EDT).
