Hearn Scores Another Top-Ten

Kansas City: Despite a late race flat tire that cost him a couple of positions, Richie Hearn scored another top-ten for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. Hearn finished tenth in his #20 BG Products Sam Schmidt Motorsports Racing Special entry in the Ameristar Casino 200 from the Kansas Speedway after running as high as fourth late in the race.

"That was the most intense race I’ve ever been in," said Hearn. "I was in that pack most of the race and it was just intense between the heat and close racing. We were better than tenth today. We had a top five car. I got in some debris when Scheckter crashed and cut a tire. We had to pit and it cost us a few positions right at the end. I want more than to run sixth through tenth and I know this team wants more as well. We’re going to test in Nashville and step up the intensity a bit. We’re better than we’ve been running and we need to get the job done."

Hearn has finished in the top-ten in 4 of the 6 races he has run for Sam Schmidt Motorsports this season. He has finished in the top 14 in every race and has been running at the end of every race. The team is now 8th in season entrant points and heads to the Nashville Superspeedway to test Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the July 20th Firestone Indy 200.
