Norwalk Furniture to Sponsor Sam Schmidt Motorsports

Indianapolis: Norwalk Furniture today announced a season long associate sponsorship of Sam Schmidt Motorsports beginning with the 86th running of the Indianapolis 500. In celebration of Norwalk’s 100-year anniversary, the Norwalk Furniture logo will be proudly displayed on the #99 Sam Schmidt Motorsports season entry as well as the #20 Grill2Go entry for the Indianapolis 500.

Norwalk Furniture, a 100-year–old family business manufacturing and retailing custom order upholstered furniture, is pleased to be able to join the Sam Schmidt Motorsports as an associate sponsor. "The upscale audience of motor racing, and Indy Racing in particular, creates an opportunity, through our association with Sam Schmidt Motorsports, to expose Norwalk to potential franchisee and consumers," said Jim Gerken, Chairman and CEO. "The atmosphere of excellence and professionalism, which the Indy Racing League has created, reinforces the positive attributes of our brand, which have attracted consumers to our stores across the United States and Canada."

Sam Schmidt Motorsports campaigns the #99 season entry for driver Anthony Lazzaro and added the #20 Grill2Go entry driven by Richie Hearn for the Indianapolis 500.

"It’s an honor to represent Norwalk Furniture, a company steeped in tradition," said Schmidt. "I’m really happy to have them on board for the season and truly appreciate their support. And I look forward to celebrating their 100 year anniversary with a trip to victory lane."

In addition to his Indy Racing League team, owner Sam Schmidt also champions the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to help individuals overcome spinal cord injuries and other debilitating illnesses by facilitating scientific research, medical treatment, rehabilitation and technology advances.

"We are particularly pleased to have been able to join a team, which demonstrates through its charitable work, the kind of good corporate citizenship that is one of the essential values of our company," added Gerken. "Norwalk is a company driven to excel in a competitive environment and no other communications strategy conveys that dynamic spirit as well as motor racing. We are delighted to partner with an Indy team whose goals, values and performance mirror those of our company."
