BRAD POLLARD TO COMPETE AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY FOR SAM SCHMIDT MOTORSPORTS

Indianapolis, IN, October 6, 2003; Sam Schmidt Motorsports announced today that Brad Pollard will drive the #99 Arrow Karts / Motor Sport Ranch / SSM entry in the Infiniti Pro Series final race at Texas Motor Speedway on October 11, 2003.

Brad is Art Pollard's cousin and is trying to reach the dreams he shared with Art, racing in and winning the Indianapolis 500!  “The Pollard family is very excited about our opportunities of returning the Pollard name to the IRL,” stated Brad.  “We are working hard to secure sponsorship for the 2004 IPS and IRL season.”

This will be Brad Pollard’s second Infiniti Pro Series event and he stated, “I am very excited about this opportunity to drive for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. It’s great to be a part of this series and I look forward to working with the team to build upon the progress we made in California. I appreciate their confidence in me and will try my best to represent the team and the series well.”

“It was unfortunate the track time was so limited in California. It was Brad’s first race at these speeds and he didn’t place a wheel wrong the entire time,” said Schmidt. “He improved in every session last race weekend and the car was extremely fast toward the end of the race. The team has now set a goal of a top 5 finish at Texas.”

Pollard, from Redmond, Washington, has competed in SCCA Autocross, SKUSA shifter karts, SCCA Formula Mazda and Skip Barber Dodge Series events. He has also completed tests in a Toyota Formula Atlantic car and a Pennzoil World of Outlaw sprint car.  In 2002, Pollard secured the SCCA Southwest Division and SCCA National Division championships by capturing 11 poles and 14 victories in 21 races.  Pollard’s athletic resume also includes professional ski racing, college pole vaulting and college football.

Corporate sponsorship for Pollard is being provided by Arrow Karts/CRC Racing and Motor Sport Ranch. CRC Racing is a leading importer of Arrow go karts from Australia. Details about their product line can be found at www.crcracing.com/stage.html. Also, Motor Sports Ranch, a Country Club for sports car enthusiasts can be read about at www.motorsportranch.com.

The Infiniti Pro Series follows the Indy Racing League to America's premier oval tracks. Powered by a Q45, 450 horsepower engine with a six speed sequential gearbox, the Dallara built chassis can average speeds in excess of 190 MPH on a 1.5-mile super speedway and reach speeds over 200 MPH on the 2-mile super speedways like California Speedway.  The final race for the 2003 season will be at Texas Motor Speedway on October 11th.
