Lazzaro Completes His Second Top 10 in IRL

Nazareth, PA: Anthony Lazzaro finished 9th today in the Indy Firestone 225 at the Nazareth Speedway in his #99 Blair99.com Sam Schmidt Motorsports Racing Special.

Lazzaro required few adjustments throughout the race despite cold track conditions and periodic bouts of precipitation.

“This was only the second longest run we’ve had all year with a full fuel stint,” said Lazzaro.” I had a really quick car that was definitely better for a long run and a little conservative for a short run. During the last 20 laps, we took a gamble on the tires, and the car developed an understeer. It held me up a little, but we still finished in the top ten. The guys did a great job.”

The Sam Schmidt Motorsports team also completed the race without the help of Tim Neff, the team’s engineer who was flown home to a family emergency. “We all missed Tim Neff and hope his mother is alright,” said Lazzaro.

Lazzaro, who missed the Fontana race this season, is currently 15th in the points standings. The next event is the 86th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 26th. Practice for the Indianapolis 500 begins May 5th.
