Biography

Conor Daly will be accumulating frequentfl yer miles en masse this season as he tackles both the Firestone Indy Lights Series for SamSchmidt Motorsports and the European GP3 Championship in 2011. Daly is coming off a record-shattering season during which he blazed to the 2010 Star Mazda Series championship and earned more race wins (seven), poles (nine), podiums (12), winning points margin (79) and laps led than anyone in series history.

After winning the 2008 Skip Barber National Championship over current Sam Schmidt Motorsports teammate Josef Newgarden and garnering Rookie of the Year honors in that year’s Ontario Formula Ford 1600 competition with five wins, the second-generation racecar driver (his father Derek competed in Formula 1, Indy cars and sports racing prototypes for more than a decade) first moved up to the Star Mazda Series in 2009, finishing third in the championship with a win, a pole position and six podium finishes in 13 events.

Daly began racing go-karts in 2005 and began accumulating race wins immediately. He won 19 races, two championships and was elected Junior Driver of the Year by Kart Racers of America. In 2006, he won three World Karting Association national events, including the Grand Nationals in South Bend, Ind. In 2007, driving for the factory Top Kart team, Daly won the Stars of Karting TAG East title and added three Skip Barber Regional Series races, including his maiden race at Moroso Motorsports Park in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Off the racetrack, Daly enjoys spending time with his family, working on his fitness, playing video games, and snowboarding in the winter.
