Biography

Argentinian Esteban Guerrieri brings a wealth of experience in single-seater race cars to Sam Schmidt Motorsports for the 2011 Firestone Indy Lights Series season. The 26-year-old won six races in last season’s World Series by Renaultin Europe, and he is a veteran of British and EuropeanFormula 3 competition.

Guerrieri began racing go-karts at the age of eight in 1993and immediately began winning events and championships in and around his native Argentina. He moved up to formulacars in 1999 and, in 2000, claimed the Argentina Formula Renault title with a pair of wins, six podiums and three pole positions.

The following year, he moved to the European Formula Renault series and finished 10th in the championship before winning the 2002 Italian Formula Renault title and also taking third in that year’s German Formula Renault championship. In 2003, Guerrieri won the European Formula Renault championship and was second in the Italian Formula Renault title chase. And, in 2004, the Argentinian moved up to the European Formula 3000 ranks with TeamBCN and scored a best finish of third at Hockenheim, Germany, to go with top-five finishes at Nurburgring, Monza, Barcelona and Hungary.

From 2005 through 2007, the Argentine driver progressed through the Formula 3 Euro Series and British Formula 3, scoring a pair of race wins before he landed in the World Series by Renault full-time in 2008.

When he’s not racing, Guerrieri enjoys playing tennis, poker and karting. He cooks a mean Shepherd’s Pie, his favorite movie is Men of Honor, and his favorite street car is the Audi RS5.
