Honda Indy Edmonton FRIDAY Practice Report |
Frustrating Friday for FAZZT at Edmonton
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 23, 2010) — FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani didn’t quite have the kind of practice he was hoping for in preparation for this weekend’s Honda Indy Edmonton. After some improvements during two practice sessions on Friday, the Canadian driver still found himself 14th on the timing and scoring sheets. Tagliani posted his fastest lap time on his final run around the challenging 3.154 -kilometer temporary airport circuit with a time 1 minute 02.7894 seconds for an average speed of 182.0506 km/h aboard the no.77 Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels machine.
Team Penske dominated the practice with all three of their drivers taking the top spots on the speed charts. Will Power set the fast time of 1 minute 6690.1433 seconds (185.3578 km/h) with teammate Ryan Briscoe on his heals with a time of 1 minute 01.9474 seconds (184.52577 km/h) and Helio Castroneves completing the Penske trifecta with a time of 1 minute 02.0152 seconds (184.323 km/h). Dario Franchitti of Target Chip Ganassi and Takuma Sato of KV Racing Technology rounded out the top five positions.
The Fazzt race team tested various set ups in both sessions in the hunt for good balance over the bumpy surface of the airport runaways at Edmonton City Centre, but fell a bit short of their expectations by the end of the practice day.

AZZI committed to the future of IndyCar Racing in Canada |
FAZZT Race Team owner Andre Azzi asserts his commitment to the future of IndyCar racing in Canada
TORONTO (July 14, 2010) – Canadians should be able to compete in international motorsports; companies and investors should be able to support talented Canadian drivers while reaping at least some commercial benefits from it. This is what Andre Azzi, a successful Canadian businessman and CEO/owner of FAZZT Race Team, announced today just days before the country hosts its two IZOD IndyCar Series events - the Honda Indy Toronto and Edmonton. During a meeting held today in Toronto with members of the press Mr. Azzi committed to fielding at least one Canadian driver in the IZOD IndyCar Series and to spearheading the rebirth of a Canadian driver development program.
“This country has a wonderful history in motorsports,” said Azzi. “I still remember watching Gilles Villeneuve and admire how his achievements brought so many Canadians, and people from other nationalities, together. After careful reflection, I have made a decision to spend the next years of my life building a Canadian race team and driver development program that ensures that young drivers in this country get the support they need to reach the higher echelons of the sport. No one can do this alone, so I will be reaching out to corporate Canada to join me in filling this important need.”

Starting from ninth on the grid, Tagliani kept the pace of the leaders throughout the event running often in the top 10, and was up to seventh place when his Bowers & Wilkins Hot Wheels Dallara was harpooned by Scheckter who was trying to move past him as they both entered turn one of the Toronto 2,816-kilometer street course. When the officials finally pulled Tagliani’s car from the tire wall, he drove back to the pits where his FAZZT Race Team crew changed to nose cone section.
